Preventive Care Dentistry
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” – Benjamin Franklin. Preventive care dentistry enables you to maintain healthy teeth; free from infection, disease, and abnormal pathology. The American Dental Association recommends that everyone have their teeth professional cleaned and examined once in 6 months.
A preventive care visit allows your dentist and dental hygienist to evaluate and intervene to address any area of concern. Diseases in its early stages are easier to treat and are less expensive.
Here is a list of preventive measures used in dentistry:
- Professional Teeth Cleaning
- Digital Dental X-Rays
- Comprehensive Periodontal Evaluation
- Bruxism Screening
- Dental Fluoride
- Oral Hygiene Instruction
- Nutrition & Oral Health
Professional Teeth Cleaning
A professional teeth cleaning rids off bacterial plaque, tartar, and stains from the outer surfaces of your teeth to prevent the onset of dental caries, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. During teeth cleaning, your dental hygienist gives you recommendations to help you care for your teeth between preventive dental visits. Afterward, a dentist will assess your teeth for dental caries, inspecting your oral tissues for pathology.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Luxe Dental converted to digital x-rays shortly after it began operations. Digital dental x-rays replace traditional X-ray film technology with a digital X-ray sensor that is more comfortable, compact and renders improved digital images of your teeth, gums, and other oral structures while significantly lessening your exposure to radiation.
At Luxe Dental, we classify dental x-rays based upon a person’s risk factors for disease. There are three primary forms of digital dental x-rays:
- Decay Detecting X-Rays: allows the dentist to see in between your teeth to detect cavities.
- Full Mouth X-Ray: is used to diagnose lesions or abnormalities that would otherwise be undetectable by a traditional examination.
- Periapical X-Ray: A single x-ray for the assessment of a single tooth.
